AMWC Guidelines Regarding Conflicts of Interest (COI)
In order to ensure the neutrality and transparency of research presentations and lectures held at AMWC Japan, we have established the following guidelines to appropriately understand the state of conflicts of interest (COI) in such presentations and lectures.
For those giving lectures, please review the following guidelines and, if necessary, make the appropriate disclosures.
< COI declaration for AMWC Japan>
When making a presentation or giving a lecture on medical research at AMWC Japan, all presenters (including all spouses, relatives in the first degree, and persons with whom the presenter shares income and assets) must declare COI regarding the financial relationships with private companies, corporate bodies, or for-profit organizations (hereinafter “Private Company or Organization”) related to the content of their presentation for one year prior to the registration.
<Persons Covered by the guideline>
The guideline is applicable to any person listed below who may find themselves in the position of a COI.
(1) Presenters at scientific session of AMWC Japan
(2) Presenters at co-sponsored session with private company
(3) Spouses, first-degree relatives, and anyone who shares the income and assets of the people listed in (1)– (2) above
<COI Declaration Criteria>
Disclosure must be made for the following items (1) to (9) when exceeding the criteria for disclosure.

When the compensation for a leadership position and/or an advisory role in one private company or organization is one million yen or more per year
2. When the profit from stocks (total dividend and gain-on-sale) in one private company is one million yen or more per year, or when the ratio of stocks held is 5% or more of all shares in one private company
3. When patent royalty and/or licensing fees for one patent and/or license from one private company or organization are one million yen or more per year
4. When the daily allowance (e.g. lecture fees) paid as compensation for the hours detained or labor for attending meetings by one private company, corporate body, or organization is five hundred thousand yen or more per year
5. When the total manuscript fee paid by one private company or organization is five hundred thousand yen or more per year
6. When the total contract-based research funding (including funding for collaborative research, funded research, and drug trials) by one private company or organization is one million yen or more per year
7. When the total of contributions for scholarships provided by one private company or organization to a disclosing individual, his/her course/class, or laboratory is one million yen or more per year
8. When a presenter belongs to a study group sponsored by a private company or organization
9. When the total amount paid by one private company or organization for travel, gifts or anything directly unrelated to research is fifty thousand yen or more per year
【How to disclose COI】
Following declaration are required for COI discloser.

If there are any COI to disclose, use the designated form to disclose any COI. (Form1) COI disclosure form
2. The presenter shall make a COI declaration whether if there are any COI to disclose or not in the first slide of the presentation or a slide following the slide that introduces the subject and presenters. (Form2 COI Slide)
All presenters are required to include a discloser slide, regardless of whether they have any declaration to make or whether they are subject to the criteria.
